Each evening throughout the summer the French town of Chartres projects lighting and video stenographies onto 26 of its cultural and architectural buildings. The town’s cathedral attracts many day trip tourists who make the journey from Paris to see the impressive gothic building. The light shows around the town are an artistic way of enticing visitors to stay in town until after dark, and therefore spend more money here.
The light shows and video projections are actually pretty impressive and transform the buildings as night falls. They’re carefully designed to follow and use the features of the buildings they’re on, and a few shows are set to music.
It’s pretty hard to capture any of them in a single picture as the projections themselves are moving. To get a sense of the projections check out this video.
