  • Into the sunset

At Elwood beach in Melbourne, a lone girl walks along the beach as a ship moves across the horizon that’s changing color behind her with the sun setting on another summer day ‘down under.’ The weather is clear now, but this afternoon storm clouds gathered across the city and unleashed a tropical torrent that caused flash floods and transformed roads into rivers.

As I walk along the beach this evening looking out over Port Phillip Bay, the scene feels reminiscent of days when I would wander along beaches of the Wirral Peninsula in the UK looking across the waves of the Irish Sea watching ships come and go from the Port of Liverpool.

I had a flash of perspective as I compared the two beaches, realising how far I am away from those once familiar shores and those sunsets, and how happy I am to be here.
