It’s an unusually cold November afternoon in Paris. The Pont Saint-Louis, a bridge across the River Seine, is usually busy with tourists listening to buskers who frequent this popular spot not far from the famous Notre-Dame cathedral. However, this afternoon the bridge is almost entirely empty but for the odd person passing by and a lone man playing the accordion.
His name is Rado, a Romanian who made Paris his home in the last few years. A biscuit tin at his feet contains no more than a few coins, but Rado is smiling and happy as he plays his old and slightly out of tune accordion. The tourists will gather sooner or later, the instrument is something of a cliché, but also a crowd pleaser on the streets of Paris.
