His work clothes are stained with the various shades of polish that sit in tins at his feet, and on the railings behind him, he’s hung a frame with his price list and contact details. Leave a pair of shoes with him and you can pick them up tomorrow. It’s an honest day’s work and has been for as long as people have worn shoes.
