An honest day’s work

Monday, September 19th, 2016

  • On Avenue des Gobelins in Paris, a man sits under a parasol shining and repairing shoes. His work clothes are stained with the various shades of polish that sit in tins at his feet, and on the railings behind him, he’s hung a frame with his price list and contact details. Leave a pair of shoes with him and you can pick them up tomorrow. It’s an honest day’s work and has been for as long as people have worn shoes.

See the shoe shine guy sitting here on Google street view.
