  • Kookaburra

It’s a rainy Saturday morning in the seaside town of Lorne in Victoria. I’m spending the weekend with friends and the weather isn’t cooperating at all. As I sip my morning coffee and look out of the window to the Louttit Bay I spot a Kookaburra sitting on the fence of the neighbor’s deck among some rain-soaked balloons leftover from a Friday night party.

He looks fed up to me as he looks out toward the sea. Maybe he’s thinking the same as I am, that the foggy hanging clouds look like they’re here for the weekend. Perhaps he had plans or at least things he needed to get done. He’s going to get wet now for sure, but there’s no point sitting around complaining about it, and with that, he flies off to go and attend to whatever it is grumpy Kookaburra’s do on rainy Saturday mornings.
