  • Lake Taupo

A lone fisherman stands in the still waters of Lake Taupo as the sun begins to set. Taupo is New Zealand’s largest lake and easily visible from space.

If you stand in the water and move your feet around you may well feel the heat of underwater hydrothermal activity from a dormant volcano.

It’s often said that the lake is bigger than the country of Singapore. However, Singaporeans might be happy to learn that the claim isn’t true and that Singapore is indeed a little larger than a lake in New Zealand!
