Sun rays break through the clouds over the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco. Surely one of the most recognisable landmarks in the world, the Golden Gate bridge stands out and defines its location in the same way that the Opera House does in Sydney, or the Eiffel Tower does in Paris. It’s a landmark that demands your attention in San Francisco, and no visit to the city would be complete without at least catching a glimpse of this majestic gateway.
I took this photograph from the Sausalito Ferry to San Francisco this morning. The cloud cover soon burned off and gave me another beautiful day in the city, perfect for a wandering day. I saw the parrots of Telegraph Hill, the famously twisting Lombard Street, rode a crowded cable car, ate good food in the Castro, then caught a street car back to the ferry terminal. I like visiting San Francisco, I always feel like I never have enough time here, and that I’d like to come back and spend a while getting to know the place a little more. Who knows, maybe one day I will.
