Kimono girls

  • Just around the corner from Asakusa Kannon Temple in Tokyo, a group of girls in kimonos walk down the road chatting to one another. I was told that not far from the temple there was a place that teaches young women how to wear the traditional and expensive Japanese garment.

While it’s usually reserved for occasions such as weddings and tea ceremonies, seeing someone wearing a kimono in Japan is not as rare as you might imagine.
