A beautiful farewell

  • It’s my final day in Hong Kong and, along with my couchsurfing host Cat, I went to Victoria Peak in Hong Kong, the place to get an awesome view of the city below. We had a late breakfast at a restaurant there then went for a stroll along the Circle Walk. The day had started out hazy, like many in this somewhat smoggy city, but it cleared completely giving us clear skies and absolutely superb visibility for the walk.

Hong Kong was recently hit by a category 10 typhoon, so the usually tree-lined Circle Walk had some parts where the trees had fallen away giving a rare opportunity to see a completely unobstructed view of the city and surrounding harbours, as well as some islands. It’s no exaggeration to say that it really was absolutely breathtaking.

The walk was very much a highlight of this trip to Hong Kong, and a wonderful way to bid farewell to this city that always seems to smile upon me. Inevitably I’ll be a little sad to leave tomorrow, but soon enough I’ll be into the next part of this adventure as I touch down in Taipei, Taiwan.
