Coastal service

  • Today I left the small Cambodian island of Koh Ru. For the past few days I’ve stayed in one of the beach bungalows (pictured) that looks out across the calm and clear waters of the Gulf of Thailand.

As I went back to the mainland on a long wooden boat, I threw three glass bottles into the water that containing the address of this blog and a way to contact me. Messages to be carried not to any specific person by the postal service, but to a random person by the ‘coastal service.’

I haven’t checked the tidal flows around this area, but I’d like to think one of those bottles will begin a long and amazing journey around the world ending up being found on some far off shore. It’s a long shot I know, but regardless of the result, it was a fun way to bid farewell to the Cambodian islands as I found my way back to the mainland and to the road once more.
