The Australian Grand Prix

Sunday, March 18th, 2012

  • Paul di Resta races past my friend Bazzer (Andy) and I as we watch the Australian Grand Prix, the first race of the 2012 Formula One World Championship.

We had taken up position on ‘Brockeys hill‘ at the entrance to turn 11 where we had a pretty good view of the track. Last year I was in a Grand Stand on the main straight and while we were able to enjoy the luxury of leaving our reserved seats in the knowledge that they would still be there when we returned, the view from that position was nowhere near as good or as close to the action as our much cheaper perch this year on the grass.

Formula One is actually one of the main reasons that I came to Melbourne and chose this city to be my home for a while.

I’m following the F1 circus to Malaysia next weekend for the Grand Prix at Sepang, not far from Kuala Lumpur. My good friend Will is flying in from the UK to that race too, before the pair of us begin a whirlwind two week tour of Malaysia.
