Les petites choses

  • There is no story with this picture. It’s just one of those hidden gems that you stumble upon as you wander around a city with your eyes open. While doing this project I tend to see the little things I might otherwise miss because I am constantly looking for that thing that might become the ‘picture of the day.’

I saw this mural on the side of a hidden away little cafe called ‘Le Petite Bourke‘ on Little Bourke Street in Melbourne. The old man looks to be lost in thought. I wonder what he’s thinking about?

    1. Nice find!

It’s funny that there is a grammar mistake in the name of the cafe. I suppose the founder was thinking a French name so he named it ” le petite …”, which in French is wrong.

“Le” la masculine and “petite” is feminine. It doesn’t go together.
It should have been ” le petit cafe” as cafe is masculine .

      • I wonder how many people must comment on that. Madeleine told me that she used to walk by there on her way to work. She said it used to bug her because she thought it should be Le Petit Bourke.

I can’t even get English grammar right, so I wouldn’t even notice it if it were wrong in English probably! 🙂
