The sun is setting and I’m standing on a hill in Kew overlooking Abbotsford, Collingwood, and the skyline of the city of Melbourne, Australia. Nearby a couple sits in silence on a bench as they watch the sun retreat behind the buildings that cut a jagged line across the horizon. Next to them, an old man adjusts a large camera on a stand, it beeps and clicks as he takes one picture before adjusting the shot to take another. Nobody speaks. We just watch the sun slowly disappear from sight, leaving behind gold-plated clouds that quickly fade, as riches often do.
