Symmetry

  • So, after travelling around the world, and using all kinds of different modes of transport to visit 19 different countries, I’m back in New Zealand, where this year began. To be honest, I never really expected to be back here, and I certainly never planned to return to New Zealand in 2012, but then in fairness, I never really planned anything about this year. I’ve been a passenger the entire time, allowing whims and notions to carry me from one place to the next in search of the story that continues to unfold before me.

New Zealand will be the last country I visit this year, and I rather like the symmetry in that. Not that it really matters, but as I looked out of the plane window down to Putaki Bay (pictured), in Waiheki island near Auckland, it does rather feel like returning to New Zealand is completing the circle. There are but a few days to do now. This is the finale.

The year is drawing to a close, and the end of 366 pictures is fast approaching. But if you’re enjoying this blog then I’d love to hear from you. Maybe you’ve never commented before, but with just a few days left consider leaving a comment on this post, or indeed any that you like (or dislike perhaps?) I read all comments and love hearing from YOU!
