Future landscape

  • The flower dome at Singapore’s ‘Gardens by the bay‘ eco-park is an impressive structure that gives the Marina Bay landscape a futuristic feel when seen alongside the towering ‘supertrees‘ that look positively science-fictional. In the background, the tallest Ferris wheel in the world, the Singapore Flyer, rotates slowly. Inside its capsules, passengers are treated to fantastic views across Singapore, and on a clear day as far away as Malaysia and some Indonesian Islands.

I wandered around the city today soaking up as much of the sun and heat as I could because tomorrow I’ll fly north to Seoul in South Korea, where the weather will be considerably cooler. As ever, I’m excited about moving on, but I can’t say I’m looking forward to the colder weather ahead. Quite apart from my dislike of the cold, there are also some practical concerns I have about the weight of my luggage with heavier winter clothing. Believe me, when you travel across the world living out of one bag, it’s a constant challenge to keep the weight you carry under control.
