I’m back in Singapore. I didn’t expect to come back here again this year, but the Formula One Grand Prix circus descends on the city-state this weekend for the only night race of the F1 season, and as I wasn’t all that far away in Taiwan I decided to jump a flight back here to watch the race.

It’s funny returning to somewhere so familiar after spending so much time experiencing new and unfamiliar places. Here I have good friends and I can walk around the city and use the MRT (subway) without getting lost or confused. That’s something of an unusual feeling for me these last few months. Make no mistake, I love the experience of discovering somewhere new, getting lost and having to familiarise myself with new landmarks and places, but it’s nice to have a break from that for a few days.
