I’m not a religious fellow for a great many reasons which I won’t bore you with here, but one of those might be the subject of today’s picture; the humble durian.

Durians are large fruit native to South East Asia that are said to have a rich custard kind of flavor. However, they’re covered in a tough thorny husk and they have a powerfully unpleasant stench that is so bad they’re banned from nearly all enclosed public spaces and hotels here in Singapore and across Asia.

I’m perplexed as to how anyone ever mustered the courage to even attempt eating such a foul smelling and unattractive thing. This leads me to cast my mind back to the story of Adam and Eve wandering naked through the garden of Eden enjoying the fruits of the forest while being careful to not eat from the apple tree.

Look at an apple. Smell one even! Even an ugly apple is still appealing. So if God was serious about Adam and Eve not eating the forbidden fruit, why didn’t he do himself and all of humanity a favor and make that particular fruit the durian!?
