Bathing Buddha

Monday, April 30th, 2012

  • A woman carefully pours fragrant water over the little Buddha at a Buddhist Temple in Singapore’s Chinatown. The bathing ceremony is performed to celebrate Buddha’s birthday and the altar is arranged as a flower garden to represent the Garden of Lumbini, the Buddha’s birth place.

I’ve visited this temple a couple of times now and each time I’ve been quite captivated by the chanting Monks who preside over ceremonial chanting within the temples impressive main hall.
